Tropic @ The Calm Barn
At The Calm Barn, our mission is to support your nervous system and help you cultivate deep, restorative health.
We believe that wellness is a complete sensory experience - it is about what we listen to, how we move, what we breathe in and what we absorb.
Your skin is your body’s largest organ and a direct path to your internal ecosystem. Just as a crystal bowl sound bath can help to regulate a stressed mind, the rituals we practice at the beginning and end of each day should soothe and nourish our bodies.
We chose to partner with Tropic Skincare because their philosophy mirrors our own: bringing the absolute best of nature and science that create moments of pure, intentional self-care.
Tropic Skincare is expanding our calm from the mat, directly to your daily routine.
The Benefits of Tropic Skincare: Pure, Conscious and Effective
Tropic is award-winning, ethically driven and uses the most nutritious, plant powered ingredients.
Freshly Made & Incredibly Effective
Freshly made: Mainstream skincare sits on high street shelves for years, heavily reliant on chemical preservatives. Tropic formulations are freshly made in their UK beauty kitchen.
Active botanicals: The tropical ingredients, active plant ceramides and vitamins are freshly whipped, meaning they are at their most potent when they reach your skin.
Zero Nasty Chemicals
Non-toxic: Tropic is completely free from parabens, synthetic fragrances, toxic additives, mineral oils, SLS and harsh preservatives.
Safe for sensitive skin: Without the chemicals, Tropic products have removed the “chemical triggers” that cause inflammation and redness, working in harmony with your skin’s natural barrier rather than stripping it away.
Vegan & Cruelty-Free
Ethical: Beauty with a conscience. The entire range is certified by The Vegan Society, Cruetly-Free International and PETA. Tropic will never use animal bi-products or ingredients tested on animals.
Carbon Neutral & Eco-Conscious
Protecting the Planet: Tropic is a certified CarbonNeutral registered company that double offsets its emissions.
Zero waste to landfill: Their production HQ runs on 100% renewable energy and sends no waste to landfill.
Sustainable packaging: Tropic focus on infinitely refillable, recyclable and returnable packaging to reduce plastic waste.
The Tropic Forest: One of our (many) favourite things about Tropic! They have partnered with Forestry England and have planted their very own Tropic Forest of over 7,000, climate-resilient trees in the Hampshire South Downs, to restore biodiversity.
The Great Barrier Reef Restoration: Tropic actively fund The Resilient Reef Foundation, helping to grow and sustain nurseries of baby, climate-resilient coral to regenerate damaged sections of the reef.
Powered by Green Science & Sunshine
Tropical nutrients: Tropic sustainably sources ingredients from tropical climates (Amazon rainforest, Australia) where plants soak up abundant sunshine and develop rich, protective antioxidants.
Clinically tested: The natural ingredients are supercharged by state-of-the-art green biochemistry and are vigorously dermatologically tested to ensure they deliver visible, real-world results.
Charitable Partnerships
Over 7.5 million school days funded: In partnership with United World Schools (UWS), every Tropic purchase helps to provide education to children in underserved, remote regions. To date, they have funded over 7.5 million school days and built five fully functioning schools in Cambodia, Nepal and Madagascar.
Empowering disadvantaged women: Tropic is a proud patron of The King’s Trust “Women Supporting Women” initiative, providing training, skills and confidence to young women in the UK.
The Winnie Mabaso Foundation: This is Tropic’s longest-standing partnership, with over £398,000 donated, funding “Tropic House”, a safe haven for vulnerable and orphaned children in South Africa, providing safe spaces, medical care and clean water.
Skin cancer awareness (Skcin): Partnering with the UKs leading skin cancer charity, SKcin, to fund specialised training for 2000 Tropic Ambassadors who are now MASCED accredited, meaning they are able to spot early signs of skin cancer within their local communities.
Beauty Banks & Trussell: Tropic financially supports Trussell (supplying UK food banks) and Beauty Banks. They also have a dedicated section of their warehouse space to house Beauty Banks’ southern distribution hub, ensuring people experiencing hygiene poverty get essential personal care items.
A note from The Calm Barn:
“Skincare is an act of mindfulness. Massaging fresh, naturally scented products into your skin at night is a way of telling your body it is safe to unwind. We can’t wait for you to experience these beautiful products and love them as much as we do.”
